صحيح أنني شعرت بالدهشة إزاء تلك المذكرات التي انطوت على أعاجيب وتناقضات أظهرت مدى الشرخ العميق الذي حاق بالفرنسيين جميعًا، وعلى رأسهم (شارل ديجول) نفسه حين أضحت فرنسا فريسة سهلة الهضم بين أنياب النمر النازي الشرس.
لقد تحدث (شارل ديجول) كثيرًا عن حلاوة الحرية ومذاق الاستقلال وروعة الانتصار على المحتل واللهفة على ساعة العودة للوطن المسلوب، والموت للعملاء والخونة الذين تعاونوا مع الاستعمار الألماني...
لقد تحدث ديجول كثيرًا حول تلك المفاهيم، لكنه غفل- شأنه في ذلك شأن جميع قادة الغرب الصليبي الاستعماري- عن أنه قد بسط نفوذ قواته الاستعمارية على ربوع أفريقيا والعالم العربي بالتساوي مع الإنجليز... وكأن الحرية والاستقلال لا توجب على شعوبنا، وكأنها أصبحت حقًا مكتسبًا لهم فقط.. لقد كان هذا الرجل غريبًا وهو يتحدث بقوله: (مستعمراتنا في أفريقيا) وهو نفسه يشكو ذل الاحتلال، ولله في خلقه شئون.
