منذ مدة ليست قصيرة ونحن نفكر في الوسائل التي تجعلنا نعبر بأبنائنا وطلابنا مرحلة الطفولة والمراهقة بأمان أو على الأقل بأقل الخسائر الممكنة، حاولنا البحث في مكتبتنا العربية على كتب ما تقدم لنا العلم والمعرفة التي تساعدنا في التصدي لمسألة التربية الجنسية للأطفال والمراهقين فوجدناها شحيحة إلى درجة الندرة وإن كانت موجودة في ثنايا كتب تحدثت وتناولت النمو أو التربية بشكل عام.
على الرغم أننا ما زلنا نعيش تلك الحالة من البحث وجدنا أن ما استطعنا أن نجمعه يستحق منا بذل الجهد لكتابة هذا الكتاب، والذي نتمنى إن لم يقدم الفائدة الكاملة المرجوة أن يفتح الباب لكتابات أخرى تغني وتثري هذه المسألة الملحة.
حاولنا في ترتيب الكتاب أن نجعل منه متدرجاً في المعلومات والأفكار من الناحية الزمنية وإن كنا مضطرين لإعادة الحديث عن بعض المراحل في مواقع أخرى.
