يشكل "معجم الألفاظ التراثية في فلسطين" حلقة من سلسلة سباعية أعدها ابن فلسطين البار الأستاذ حسين علي لوباني. وهي تتناول مسائل ووجوها ونشاطات تتصل بقوة وعمق بالوطن السليب: فلسطين. أما المعاجم الستة الأخرى فهي: معجم الأمثال الفلسطينية، معجم العامي والدخيل في فلسطين، معجم الألفاظ التراثية في فلسطين، معجم الأطعمة الفلسطينية، معجم أسماء المدن والقرى الفلسطينية، معجم الكنى والمكنيات في دنيا الأحياء والجمادات.
يشكل هذا المعجم محاولة من المؤلف لخدمة وطنه ثقافياً، لترسيخ هويته عن طريق تسجيل حق هذا الوطن في حفظ تراثه بعد أن حاول المغتصب طمس بعض التراث الفلسطيني، وسرقة بعضه الآخر، وانتحال بعضه الثالث تمهيداً للقضاء على الشخصية الفلسطينية: وطناً وشعباً وحضارة وثقافة وتراثاً.
ومن هذه المنطلقات رصد المؤلف وسجل ألفاظ التراث الفلسطيني في مجال: الموسيقى، والطب الشعبي، والزراعة وأدواتها، والعادات والتقاليد في الأعراس والأعياد ومختلف المناسبات... والطقس والمناخ، والنكت والنوادر والألغاز، واللباس والحيوان، والمعتقدات الشعبية، والطعام والألعاب...
ولم يكتف بإيراد اللفظة مجردة عارية، وإنما أغناها بمعلومات لغوية وصرفية وتاريخية واجتماعية... وأحياناً سجل التسمية أو التسميات الأخرى لها... مما جعل من معجمه مؤلفاً ثقافياً ووطنياً بامتياز.
