"هذا كتاب ألّفته في علم العقائد سميته "باليواقيت والجواهر" في بيان عقائد الاكابر حاولت فيه المطابقة بين عقائد أهل الكشف وعقائد أهل الفكر حسب طاقتي وذلك لأن المدار في العقائد على هاتين الطائفتين، إذ الخلق كلهم قسمان: إما أهل نظر، وإستدلال وإما أهل كشف وعيان.
وقد ألَّف كل من الطائفتين كتباً لأهل دائرته، فربما ظن من لا غوص له في الشريعة أن كلام إحدى الدائرتين مخالف للأخرى، فقصدت في هذا الكتاب بيان وجه الجمع بينهما ليتأيد كلام أهل كل دائرة بالأخرى وهذا أمرٌ لم أر أحداً سبقني إليه.
فرحم الله تعالى من عذرني في العجز عن الوفاء بما حاولته والتزمته، فإن منازع الكلام دقيقة جداً، وقد قال الإمام الشافعي رضي الله عنه لأبي إسحاق المزني: عليك بالفقه، وإياك وعلم الكلام، فلأن يقال لك أخطأت خير لك من أن يقال كفرت".
