هذه الدراسة تبحث في عوالم شعرية الفضاء الروائي عند جمال الغيطاني، مستخدمةً الظل الفضائي باعتباره منظوراً جديداً في معرفة أبعاد هذا الفضاء، الذي يحوي بداخله أماكن متعددة، قام بتشييدها الإنسان، فهي أول ما يسعى إليه وآخر ما يتبقى منه، حيث يرحل البشر ويبقى الأثر شاهداً على ما سبق، لذلك فقد مهد الغيطاني الطريق لارتياد الفضاء عبر قلمه الحاد الرصين وأسلوب سرده المفعم بالخيال، المجسد للصورة المكانية في إعطاء الدلالات التأويلية، وفق رؤيته الخاصة مع ذاكرة الضوء الحديدية، والتي لا مناص عنده من أن يمرق من جلدها أو أن يصبأ عن جنسها، إنها ذاكرة الضوء المنبعث من حضارتين عريقتين: الفرعونية العتيقة والإسلامية النورانية، حيث اتكأ عليهما ليرى من خلال نوافذه المتعددة مالا يراه الآخرون، فنظر من نافذة السماء ليرى الكون المطلق، ومن النافذة الداخلية ليرى الغائب البعيد اللامحدود، ومن نافذة المناظير ليرى المجرات والكواكب، وأخيراً نافذة العمر التي تنفتح قبل النهاية. وهو في طريقه إلى هذا سيطرت عليه الصوفية بكل أطيافها، فارتوى من معينها الذي لا ينضب، وتنسم عبيرها الذي بلغ الآفاق.
