هذا هو كتاب "غريب لغة قبيلة شمر حائل وما حولها" ألفه "هزاع بن عيد الشمري" على حروف المعجم مستقياً متنه من غريب لغتهم البحتة التي لا يشاركهم فيها أحد إلا القليل من الناس، فالتاء المفتوحة في نهاية الكلمات المؤنثة مثل: الحياتية (الحيانيت)، وموحة (موحت)، والتربة (التربت).. إلى آخره.. فهذه لغات خاصة بقبيلة شمر وحدها دون سائر القبائل الأخرى وهذه لغة عربية فصحى من لغات العرب، وربما جاءت أصواتها: (الحياني-يه)، (موحي-ه)، (التربي-ه). ومثل: الهاء الممدودة المقصورة في ضمائر المؤنث: بها (به)، لها (له)، يمها (يمه). ومثل: ماء (ماء)، (مانن)، هي كذلك.
ومن الملاحظ أن مفردات لغة قبيلة شمر تسكن نهاياتها جميعها وتسكن بدايات المفردات خاصة في حالة التصغير وهذا غريب غير مألوف وربما كان مرد ذلك راجع إلى تحريف أو أصل من أصول اللغة العربية القديمة التي لا تستخدم اليوم إلا على هذا النحو، وأن الكثير من هذه المفردات ومعانيها لم تدون في المعاجم العربية على الرغم من عربيتها القحة وهذا ما يلمسه القارئ في صفحات الكتاب، وإلا فقبيلة شمر قبيلة عربية في وسط بلاد العرب تنحدر من قبيلة طيء المشهورة التي هاجرت من اليمن إلى منطقة الجبلين واستوطنت فيها قبل ألف وسبعمائة سنة بالتقريب فمن أين لها لغة غير لغة العرب الجنوبية.
