إيران والعالم العربي يشكلان وحدة حضارية مترابطة منذ ظهور الإسلام في شبه الجزيرة العربية. وهذا لا يعني أن قبل ذلك لم تكن عرى ثقافية وسياسية تربط العرب بالفرس، بل إن الإسلام أرسى حضارة عظيمة، نواتها العرب وكان للفرس أيضاً دوراً لا يستهان به. وقد فصلت الأسوار في القرن المنصرم وبفعل المؤثرات المختلفة، الشعوب الإيرانية عن الأمة العربية، غير أن قيام الثورة في فبراير 1979 والتطورات الأخيرة بعد رئاسة خاتمي، تنبئ بأن الأسوار يمكن أن تزول يوماً بعد أن اهتزت واخترقت.
ويقول المؤلف في مقدمة كتابه أن القارئ العربي قليل الإلمام بالحدث الإيراني لأسباب شتى، منها حاجز اللغة والحصول على المعلومات في المصادر الغربية، كما أن الدراسات والتحاليل المعروضة على المتلقي العربي في الأعوام الأخيرة ينقصها معايشة التجربة الإيرانية عن قرب أو الاطلاع على ما يجري في البلاد، لذلك عنى بوضع هذه الدراسة باللغة العربية التي يلقي من خلالها نظرة من الداخل-باعتباره صحافي وخبير بالشؤون الإيرانية عايش قبل وبعد الثورة وشاهد على عهدي الاشه والثورة وتعمق في تاريخ إيران وخاصة الحديث منه-على التطورات السياسية والثقافية في عهد خاتمي محاولاً عبر تحليلاته ومحوراته التي أجراها أو المقابلات التي أجريت معه أن يرسم صورة واضحة للقارئ العربي عما يدور على أرض الواقع كما-وباعتباره مواطناً عربية-إيرانياً من منطقة الأهواز، لا ينسى أن يذكّر الذين نسوا أو تناسوا هذا الشعب بوجودهم وقضاياهم.
هذا الكتاب يحتوي على مجموعة من المقالات التي كتبها عزيزي ونشرها في صحف عربية ترصد الحدث الإيراني وتربطه بشقيقه العربي، تأكيداً على ترابط المسارات في المنطقة، فمصير هذه الشعوب واحد، لمواجهة الخطر المشترك.
