يتناول هذا الكتاب نصوص من محاضرات علمية فكرية ألقاها الإمام السيد موسى الصدر في أمكنة وأزمنة مختلفة، منها ما طبع عدة طبعات ولم تزل أغلب هذه المحاضرات في التداول.
(أبجدية الحوار)، كان أول نتاج صدر حاملاً خطة استحضار الإمام السيد موسى الصدر، فكراً واجتماعاً وثقافة، وهي رد الكلمة الحق على الخرس والصمت والاستهابة، وهي وقوف في الساح بين الناس، تخاطبهم، تناقشهم، تباحثهم، تحمل أوجاعهم وتهزج بأفراجهم.
كنا قد اخترنا من مجموعه -محاضرات وخطباً- واخترنا لها هذا العنوان (أبجدية الحوار) مما يمثل نماذج برنامجه الإصلاحي للحياة الاجتماعية في لبنان بجوانبها المتعددة. وهذه النماذج يمكننا أن ننظر إلى تفاصيلها ودوافعها لنقف على تحسس الإمام الصدر لإشكالات الحياة الاجتماعية اللبنانية، أو بالأحرى لمشكلاتها القائمة أساساً على ما بين مجموعات المجتمع البشري اللبناني، من تباعد وتفرق وتمزق وتفكك، وهذا ما رأيناه يتجسد في توجهه الحواري منذ أعددنا هذا الكتاب وأسميناه (أبجدية الحوار) لاشتماله على المبادئ الأساس لأي محاولة حوارية في كل آن، دون الارتهان إلى الظروف التي تغير أو تبدل، ويصدقنا في هذا الاعتبار أننا الآن، ونحن ندفع بالكتاب لطبعة ثانية، وبعد عشر سنوات في الطبعة الأولى، نجد ما نحتاجه الآن يمكننا أن نستقيه مما قاله، وقد رغبنا أن نسير مع قواعد الإمام الصدر التي استخرجنا بعضها مما سبق القولن مما لا نزال نحتاجه الآن، وقد عمدنا إلى وضع رقم الصفحة، حيث موقع الاستشهاد لمن يرغب الإطلاع على مناخ الموضوع، كما ذكرنا أحياناً تاريخ المناسبة، علنا نقف أمام ما نحن فيه من تضييع لوقت وهدر لتجارب.
