لقد جاء هذا البحث كمحاولة للتعريف بالإنتقادات التي وجهها ايكو لكل أشكال التأويلات المضاعفة، وحصر مساهماته في بلورة مبحث الهرمنوطيقا، واهتم بطرق التعامل مع النصوص كما حددها ايكو تنظيراً وممارسة قرائية. وأن ايكو هو يحدد موقفاً متميزاً من التأويل يأخذه إلى آفاق الهرمنوطيقا المعاصرة، فإن إشكالية هذا البحث تدور حول سؤال قاعدي غرضه إدراك آلة ومضمون ثم إبعاد المشروع النقدي لايكو أولاً، فكيف نظر ايكو للنص والقراءة في ظل الممارسة التأويلية خاصة المعاصرة؟ وما هي المفاتيح التي اعتمدها في قراءته للتأويلات المضاعفة قديمها وحديثها؟ وإذا كان الإفراط يتربص بالتأويل، فما هي أهم النقاشات التي قدمها من أجل مواجهة هذه التأويلات المضاعفة؟ هنا سيفَعّل ايكو جملة آليات للرد على هذا الإفراط في التأويل وتجاوزه بالتالي لحدود المعنى، ومن ثم وجب التساؤل عن الأدوات المعرفية والمنهجية التي قد تقوم دون الإفراط في التأويل؟ وهو ما يحيل إلى قراءة أداتية لنص ايكو تمييزاً لاختياراته. وهنا علينا أن نقيم سؤالاً يستدعي المقارنة بين مشروع ايكو النقدي ومشاريع أخرى محايثة؟ سؤال عن مسار هذا المشروع وتأثيره في تاريخ الهرمنوطيقا الراهنة؟
