صدرت الطبعة الأولى من هذا الكتاب سنة 1984 بعنوان الجملة العربية دراسة لغوية نحوية وكنت أشعر منذ ذلك الحين أنه في حاجة إلى شرح بعض جزئياته وإيضاح بعض أفكاره ثم ألح علي بعض الزملاء والدراسين في مصر والدول العربية بعد أن طلبوه فعز عليهم منذ سنوات طالبين إعادة نشره ولعلهم رأوا فيه نفعًا فنزلت على رغبتهم وآثرت أن أجعل العنوان الجملة العربية دراسة لغوية مضيفًا بعض لمسات في الشكل والمضمون وأوضحت ما يحتاج إيضاح وشرحت ما يستحق شرحًا ويتضح ذلك في الحديث عن الجملة المزدوجة والجملة المتداخلة مع مزيد من النماذج والأمثلة والشواهد التي تزيد الأفكار وضوحًا.
