يعتبر النصف الول من القرن العشرين من الفترات الهامة في تاريخ إيران الحديث والمعاصر، حيث أن احداث تلك الفترة قد بلورت في طياتها العديد من المتغيرات الحاسمة على الأصعدة المختلفة هناك، حتى يمكن اعتبارها أحد مكامن التحول الجذري الذي شهدته إيران طيلة هذا القرن.
بيد ان دراسة تلك الفترة لم تكن لتتم بمعزل عن دراسة العوامل الداخلية والخارجية التى تفاعلت فيما بينها لإسقاط النظام القاجاري، وهيأت في نفس الوقت الظروف الموضوعية لأن يصبح رضا بهلوى هو المسؤول الأول إن لم يكن الوحيد في إيران.
والحقيقة أن تاريخ إيران بعد الإسلام يمثل في بعض جوانبه مجموعة من الظواهر النسبية لعدم الاستقرار على المستويات المختلفة ومن ثم سجل لنا التاريخ قيام نظم حكم تعد استثنائية في إطار التطور التاريخي لبلد إقليمي كبير مثل ايران ، على أيه حال كانت ضرورة دراسة هذه الفترة الهامة من تاريخ إيران دافعا لأن يصبح هذا الكتاب بين يدي القارئ الكريم، بعد ان كان رسالة علمية نلت بها درجة الماجستير.
