يضم هذا الكتاب بين طياته دراسة دارت حول إسهام العرب والمسلمين في علم الصيدلة، تكلمت في بابها الأول عن المصادر التي نهل منها العلماء المسلمون في الصيدلة، أما بابها الثاني فخصص لتتبع جهود علماء العرب والمسلمين في حقل الصيدلة، وعلى رأسهم كل من داوود الأنطاكي والغافقي وابن التلميذ وابن ماجه، وكوهين العطار وابن ميمون وابن الجزار والإدريسي والبيروتي والكندي وابن البيطار وابن الطبري وابن سينا والرازي والأهوازي.
وهؤلاء العلماء استعانوا بما تجمع لدى الأمم المتحضرة حولهم من علوم فنهلوا الكثير، لذا نجد أن علماء الغرب يعترفون بعبقرية العقل العربي وقدرته على الاستيعاب والإنتاج العلمي.
وبالعودة إلى منهاج هذه الدراسة نجد أنه قد اتبع المدرسة التي تحث على دراسة تاريخ العلوم بإعطاء فكرة واضحة وصحيحة عن تطورها وتقدمها دون التركيز على دراسة كل علم من ناحية أصوله ونظرياته وقوانينه وتجاربه. لأن هذا النوع من الدرس يحتاج إلى تخصص دقيق في كل فرع من فروع المعرفة، كما يحتاج إلى قراء متخصصين في جمال العلوم.
والهدف من هذا الكتاب أنه يخدم المثقف الذي يريد أن يأخذ فكرة سريعة عن دور علماء العرب والمسلمين في علم الصيدلة. حيث أنه قد ذكر بنذة مختصرة لكثير من النظريات التي أدعاها علماء الغرب لأنفسهم وحاول رد هذه النظريات إلى أهلها من علماء العرب والمسلمين مستنداً على مصادر لا تقبل التأويل.
دراسة حول إسهام العرب والمسلمين في علم الصيدلة، تكلمت عن المصادر التي نهل منها العلماء المسلمون في الصيدلة، والجهود الكبيرة التي أسهم بها هؤلاء العظماء في حقل هذا العلم، وتذكر أهم وأشهر العلماء في حقل هذا العلم، وتذكر أهم وأشهر العلماء العرب والمسلمين أمثال الكندي والرازي وابن سينا وغيرهم.
