وأهمية هذا الكتاب من أهمية كاتبه ألا وهو حاييم هرزوج رئيس إسرائيل السابق الذي تبوأ عدة مناصب حتى الوصول إلى الرئاسة. فهو يعرض لتلك الحروب حرباً حرباً ومعركة معركة بالخرائط التوضيحية (53 خريطة) ومن اللافت للنظر أن المكتبة العربية تكاد تخلو من الكتب التي تتناول حروبنا مع إسرائيل من جانبها العسكري، وبالذات حربي 1956، 1967.
هذا الكتاب يقدم بانوراما حربية لما يزيد عن الثلاثين عاماً من عمر الصراع الذي شهدته المنطقة على الجبهات العربية المختلفة: فلسطين... مصر... سوريا... الأردن... لبنان...
