ليلى عسيران هي واحدة من نساء لبنان اللواتي تركن أثراً في الصحافة والرواية والقصة والقصيدة، ولدت في العام 1934م، في مدينة صيدا، وكانت زوج رئيس مجلس الوزراء اللبناني الأسبق أمين الحافظ، ووالدة رمزي الحافظ، ناشر مجلة (Lebanon Opportunities)، وقد عملت من أجل قضايا الأمة العربية وقضايا المرأة اللبنانية والعربية، وكانت ناشطة في مجال تحرير المرأة، ومتعاطفة مع الحركات النضالية العربيّة والفلسطينية على وجه التحديد، وقد تميّزت بإسهامها الكبير بالقلم والفعل في يوميات المقاومة الفلسطينية منذ نشأتها.
قد لامست روايات "ليلى عسيران" أعماق الواقع اللبناني والواقع الفلسطيني، بما انطويا عليه من أبعاد، وبما احتويا من تناقضات على المستويات الثقافية والإجتماعية والسياسية والوطنية والقومية والإنسانية بشكل عام.
قد وقعت في يدي بعض تلك الروايات، وهي: "عصافير الفجر"، "خط الأفعى"، "قلعة الأسطة"، والأساس في هذه الروايات هو الإنسان اللبناني خصوصاً والعربي عموماً، وهو الضحية الأولى لحرب عبثية عاش اللبنانيون ويلاتها ردحاً من الزمن، وفي الروايتين: "الحوار الأخرس"، و"المدينة الفارغة"، ركّزت الروائية على القضايا الإجتماعية، خصوصا قضية المرأة وتحريرها من العبودية.
هذا ما شدّني إلى قراءة نتاجها بشغف مع إمتداد بساط المعرفة على الإمساك بخيوط الأفكار والأحلام والآمال التي نشرتها ملوّنة من قومية عربية إلى وطنية إجتماعية.
