في هذا العدد من سلسلة "كتاب اليوم" نقدم نسقاً جديداً من إصدارتنا حيث يجمع هذا الكتاب بين أدب الرحلات والجغرافيا السياسية والوصف الدقيق للأماكن والبلاد، حيث يصف فيه رحلته إلي منطقة من أكثر مناطق العالم اشتعالاً وهي آسيا الوسطي وأسخن مناطقها أفغانستان وما يحيط بها من بلاد تساعد في اشتعال الوضع هناك مثل باكستان وطاجيكستان وأذربيجان.
وتشير الكاتبة نوال مصطفي رئيس تحرير كتاب اليوم إلي أن خالد منصور نوعية من الكتاب الذين يجمعون بين الثقافة العميقة والقدرة علي الملاحظة والمعايشة، وكذلك ساهم إتقانه الشديد للغة الإنجليزية في استعانته بالكتب والمراجع الغربية إلي جانب العربية وبذلك جمع بين الرؤيتين معاً في تحليل الموضوعات الشائكة التي يتعرض لها في كتاباته.
ويبدأ خالد كتابه بمقدمة بعنوان (قبل السفر) يتعرض فيها للجوانب النفسية والإجتماعية التي أهلته لكتابة هذا الكتاب، وكيف بدأ رحلته في عالم الأدب، ورحلته الأخري في العالم التي استمرت كثيراً، وحياة الارتحال التي عاشها لسنوات طويلة حيث يقول: "هذا الكتاب عبارة عن بعض اليوميات التي سجلتها، بعد أن رحلت عن واشنطن وسافرت إلي آسيا الوسطي وخاصة أفغانستان طوال ثلاثة أعوام".
ويبدأ أول فصول كتابه برحلته إلي كابول حيث يصف مغادرته للعاصمة الباكستانية إسلام آباد متجهاً إلي كابول، وما يميز هذا الكتاب بشدة هو معايشة القارئ لكل اللحظات التي مر بها الكاتب، لبراعة خالد منصور في الوصف الذي لا يجعل القارئ يمل بل علي العكس يصنع عالماً خاصاً كأنه فيلم سينمائي متحرك أمامه علي الورق.
وتقول الكاتبة نوال مصطفي "كنت ألهث وراء السطور وأنا أقرأ هذا الكتاب، ليس لأنه كتاب نادر ومفيد، لكن بسبب آخر هو شغفي، وفضولي الشديد لفهم تلك البقعة شديدة التعقيد .. بالغة الخطورة بما تمثله من صراعات لها تأثير علي العالم والبشرية، وتضيف "استمتعت جداً بقراءة الكتاب لأنه مزيج من أدب الرحلات والتحليل السياسي والإنساني والإجتماعي لواقع بشر شاء قدرهم أن يكونوا مواطنين أفغاناً أو باكستانيين أو إيرانيين ، وأن تتعرض أوطانهم لمنحنيات سياسية حادة جداً وتحولات رهيبة".
