في هذا الكتاب ثلاث مجاميع شعرية: "مثل وقع قدميك" و "القطرة حلمة الماء" و "النهر لا يعيد نفسه" يحمل الكتاب عنوان المجموعة الأولى. وتهيمن عليه الكتابة الشذرية حيث القصائد القصيرة وقصيدة الومضة التي تمتع مما هو ذاتي وتأملي، جاء بعضها معنوناً والبعض الآخر مرقماً.
ما يميز المجموعة أنها اختبار متماسك بقصيدة النثر فهي تتشكل من قصائد جاءت كقطعة واحدة تتسلسل فيها العبارات والمعاني من بعضها البعض ويتولد النص من إيقاع واحد يتتابع بتقطيع منسق، فالعبارة تولد من غيرها والإيقاع يتحول إلى لحن متصل، فيما تتحول القصيدة إلى تنقيط وإلى لوحة.
تحت عنوان ] وهم [ يقول الشاعر: "توهم نفسك بالخرير كلما طالك اليباس واعتراك الطين والوحل، وتكاثرت أحجارك، أحجارك التي طالما حسبتها لآلىءَ نفيسةً، لذلك كنت دائم الحرص، مثل وادٍ مهجور، على أشياء ذكرياتك الماضية، ولكم راودت ضفتيك على الإنطباق في وجه جاراتك الشجيرات، وليس ثمة ما يبرّر خجلك اليابس سوى حلمك الرقراق بشتاء جارف".
من عناوين المجنوعة نذكر: ضفة الشاعر، غربة، شجرة تكتبني، كلما خرقت جداراً، حكمة طفل ... الخ.
