يتّصف هذا البحث بالرصانة والعمق والأصالة، إذ يدرس "الوصف في روايات حنان الشيخ"، وهو مدخل جديد وصعب وشائك، فالوصف - لدى منظّريه المعاصرين - بلا جوهر قارّ أو ملامح ثابتة، وتحديده النمطيّ "غائم وإشكاليّ".
لكنّ الدكتورة "حنان العمايرة" استطاعت - من خلال تحديد أسئلتها ومنطلقاتها وعكوفها الطويل على نصوص روائيّة محدّدة - أن تستلخص: أنظمة الوصف وتقنيّاتها وأدواتها وهندساتها ونغماتها وبناها الإيقاعيّة، ووظائف هذه الأنظمة داخل النصّ و(خارجه) وصلاتها الغامضة بالمتعة وبالعمليّات الأساسيّة للفهم والتأويل، وعلاقاتها باللغة وبالقارئ.
كما استطاعت - بإقتدار لافت - تأكيد حقيقة مهمّة وهي أنّ الصورة الوصفيّة ليست عملاً "زائداً" أو "تزيينياً" أو "مستقلاً"، وإنّما هي عنصر تكوينيّ مهمّ له دوره في تنظيم النصّ وفي عرض العالم الروائيّ وتعيينه، وفي تجسيد الرؤية الفنيّة الكليّة للنصّ.
وإضافة إلى ما تقدّم، فإن القارئ المتمعّن والمتابع سيدرك حقيقتين مهمّتين:
-الاولى: أن هذا البحث يعدّ - بحقّ - إضافة نوعيّة للمكتبة النقديّة العربيّة، من حيث جدّته (البحوث التطبيقيّة، الّتي تتناول الوصف، لا تتجاوز عدد أصابع اليد الواحدة)، ومن حيث منهجيّته الواضحة المتماسكة ونتائجه الباهرة الّتي من شأنها أن تثير أسئلة أدبيّة ونقديّة جديدة.
-الثانية: أنّه أمام باحثة جادّة تمتلك خبرةً أدبيّة ونقديّة واسعة، وأدوات متميّزة مكّنتها من سبر الظاهرة وإجلاء أسرارها وخفاياها وعلاقاتها وأبعادها.
