نقصد بالخطاب مجموع الوسائل الكلاميّة وغير الكلاميّة الموظّفة لضمان نجاح العمليّة التّبليغيّة، إنّه خاضع لمعايير حدّدتها الأخلاق والقيم الإجتماعية والثّقافيّة والدّينيّة.
ترتبط تلك الرّؤية بالمقاربة السّوسيولغويّة حسب مفهوم "تشومسكي" الّذي أسّس لعلم إجتماعيّ لغويّ.
إنطلاقاً من هذه الرّؤية، نعالج مستويات الخطاب، في سردّيات حنان الشّيخ، ملاحظين تشابكها وتنوّعها، إنّها متشابكةٌ تماهياً مع مقتضيات السّرد، وضمن مرجعيّتها التّداوليّة لدى "أصحابها".
صانعوا الخطاب، في تلك السّرديّات، هم أصحاب السّلطة الثّقافيّة أو ضحاياها في المرجعيّة الثّقافيّة المتّصلة بالمرجعيّة الإجتماعيّة العريضة للكاتبة، إنطلاقاً من هذه الفرضيّة نغوص في الإشكاليّة المتمثّلة بالنّظرة إلى المرأة وبردّها عليها.
تبدّى الخطاب، في سرديّات حنان الشّيخ، تبعاً لهذا الإطار، برأينا، عبر مستويات ثلاث وهي: المستوى الوصفيّ السّكونيّ، المستوى الوصفيّ الصّادم، والمستوى الفاعل التّنويريّ.
