إن البحث الدلالي في تراثنا العربي من أول فروع علم اللغة التي عرفها العرب منذ القدم، حيث كانت عنايتهم منصبة حول خدمة النص القرآني، فقامت الدراسات حول هذا الكتاب المعجز تبحث في دلالة ألفاظه، والوقوف على معانيه، فخلّفوا وراءهم زخماً دلالياً هاماً يشهد لهم على ضخامة جهودهم، وغزارة مادتهم، وسعة إطلاعهم، ودقة دراساتهم.
والمتتبع في ذلك، يجد أن بعض المعلوم تشترك في الأخذ بالطرق المؤدية إلى فهم النص القرآني، والسُّني، كمثل: علوم القرآن الكريم، علوم التفسير، علوم الحديث، علم الأصول، وعلم العربية من نحو وصرف وبلاغة... وما يهمنا في هذه الدراسة بالضبط هو علم أصول الفقه الذي كان له باع كبير في الدرس اللغوي عامة، والدلالي خاصة، حيث انتشر التحليل الدلالي في أوساط علماء الأصول، وجعلوا من الدّرس اللغوي الأساس في إستنباط الأحكام من النصوص الشرعية، فوضّحوا ما غمض بيانه، وشرحوا ما قصر فهمه، وكانت لهم بحوث تتعلق بالدلالة لإتصالها بكثير من المسائل الفقهية التي لا يمكن للدارس الإستغناء عنها.
ولقد لقيت دلالة الألفاظ الإهتمام البالغ عند علماء الأصول بإعتبارها ركيزة عملهم ومناط الحكم الشرعي، فلذلك، فإننا نجدهم قد درسوا اللفظ من جوانب عديدة.
كما كانت هناك قضايا عديدة ذات إهتمامات صوتية وصرفية ونحوية، وسيمولوجية إشارية، غطت معالجتهم لها حقولاً من البحث، حتى ظلت الإتجاهات الدلالية الحديثة اليوم تسعى جاهدة إلى تغطيتها، بل القول إنهم أزالوا الستار عن كثير من القضايا اللسانية بعامة، والدلالية بوجه أخص في ميدان الدراسات اللسانية الحديثة...
ومن هذا المنطلق، كان موضوع بحثنا في مقصدية منطوق الخطاب التداولي ومفهومه عند الإمام الشوكاني - من خلال كتابه إرشاد الفحول إلى تحقيق الحق من علم الأصول - مبحثاً من المباحث الدلالية في تراثنا العربي من جهة؛ ومن جهة أخرى مبحثاً من مباحث دلالة اللفظ على المعنى التي وقف عليها علماء الأصول وقفة تمعنٍ، وهو ما نجده نتيجة الخلاف الفقهي بين المتكلمين والفقهاء أثناء تعرضهما لتلك التقسميات الدلالية.
