إن حوادث الزمان كثر وقوعها وتعددت أشكالها، وتنوعت مشكلاتها وخفى على كثير من الناس أسبابها، ومن ذلك "الحسد" ذلك الداء الذي استشرى في البشر وسار فيهم سريان النار في الهشيم، فكم من إنسان يرزح وشتت أفرادهم، وكم من كارثة كان سببها.
ولا غرو أن يكون هناك من يجهل أمرها أو ينكر حقيقتها، وقد سلك الناس في علاجها مسالك شتى فمن كان يجه العين، أو الإصابة بها لجأ إلى العلاج العضوي، ومن عرف حقيقتها فإنه بحسب مشربة فقد يعالجها بشيء من الشعوذات والخزعبلات والدجل، ومنهم من يعالجها بالرقية الشرعية.
وقد اعتنى الدين الحنيف بهذا وأرشد إلى الوقاية منه قبل وقوعه وعلاجه عند وقوعه وبعده، وكيف يتعامل الخائف من الحسد والعين مع من يخاف منه، ومن كان مؤثر بعينه كيف يتقي الناس أضراره.
