ما يجب أن نتعلمه هو إكتشاف الأشياء بأنفسنا وفهمها بأنفسنا، وليس من خلال أي أحد سوانا، إن إنتظار معرفة ما الحقيقة وما الزيف، عن طريق أي أحد، هو أمرٌ عديم الجدوى.
يجب أن نجد أنفسنا زاوية هادئة في أنفسنا، نحن الذين نحيا في هذه المدن المرعبة، في هذه الأماكن الصغيرة، منهكين في العمل والسفر، في القطار والحافلات طيلة اليوم، يجب أن نجد تلك الزاوية في أنفسنا، وليس في بيتٍ ما أو في حديقةٍ ما، بل عميقاً في أنفسنا، وأن نتعلّم من هناك العيش والسلوك وإكتشاف ماهية الجمال والزمن وطبيعة الخوف وحركته والسعي خلف اللذة وإنهاء الأسى وكل ألم آخر.
يجب أن نكتشف زاوية كهذه في قلوبنا وليس في العقول، لأنه حيثما يوجَد الوِد والحب والتبصر والفهم، يظهر الوضوح تلقائياً، ومن هناك يتفتح السلوك الصحيح من تلقاء ذاته، لكن معظمنا يعيش حياةً مليئة بالضغط والصراع، فإذا لم نكتشف بأنفسنا هذه المساحة الصغيرة، مساحةً لم يخلقها الفكر، مساحةً لم يشبها التلوّث، نقيةً وفيها ضوءٌ لم يوقده فينا أحدٌ، ضوءٌ يضيئنا نحن، فنجد أنفسنا أحراراً تماماً، إذا لم يكن كل ذلك فإننا سنبقى نتخبط في أوهام الفكر وتقلبات حالاته.
إننا نحيا في شقق أو غرف صغيرة، وعقولنا قد تأقلمت على قبول هذه المساحات الضئيلة، أما المساحة التي نتكلم عنها في التأمل فهي مساحة بلا جدران، كما هي الحال عندما تنظر إلى البحر وترى الأفق، وعندما تنظر إلى النجوم وترى بريقها الآخاذ ذاك، فتنفتح الأمداء في عقلك وتدرك كم كان مغلقاً وضيقاً.
