بعد جمع القرآن الكريم ووصول مصاحف عثمان إلى الأمصار (الشام ومصر والعراق واليمن) تفنن الخطاطون في الكتابة فأبدعوا أنواع كثيرة من الخطوط سُمّيت بأسماء كثيرة: فنُسبَت إلى الأماكن: المدني - الكوفي - الأندلسي - الفارسي، ونُسبَت إلى الأشخاص: الريحاني - الرياسي - الياقوتي - الغزالي، ونُسبَت إلى الوظائف: الإجازة - الديواني - التذكاري، ونُسبَت إلى الورق ومساحته: الديباج - الرقاع، ونُسبَت إلى الشكل الهندسي: المائل - المسلسل - المشْق - المضفر، ونُسبَت إلى القلم: كالثلثين - والنصف - والثلث.
خطّ الرّقعة: هو خطٌّ عربيّ يتميّز بالسرعة في كتابته، يجمع في حروفه بين القوّة والجمال في آن واحد، ولا يُهْتَمُّ بتشكيله إلاّ في الحدود الضّيّقة بإستثناء الآيات القرآنيّة، وهو من الخطوط المعتادة التي تُكْتَبُ في الدّول العربيّة، كما أنّه الخطّ الأكثر شيوعاً في كتاباتنا اليوميّة، والأكثر سهولة ووضوحاً.
خطّ الرقعة: هو خطٌّ يُستخدم في الأغراض التّحريريّة والإداريّة فكانت تكتب به الرّقاع أي الأوراق أو الرّسائل ومن هنا جاءت تسميته.
وقد مرّ خطّ الرّقعة بمراحل كثيرة حتى أصبح على الشّكل الّذي نعرفه الآن.
ونظراً لأهمية هذا الخط رأينا أنه من الواجب علينا أن حرص على تعليم الناشئة هذا الفن الراقي الجميل.
لذا جاءت هذه السلسلة من أربع أجزاء، للصف الأول والثاني والثالث والرابع الأساسي، وقد اخترنا لهم إسم (المرشد إلى الخط الجميل)، وقد عمدنا إلى كتابة النصوص بالريشة وبالشكل الفني الصحيح كي يتعود التلميد على جمالية الخط وقواعده.
