إن موضوع الإستشراق والمستشرقين من الموضوعات التى حصل بشأنها تلبيس كثيرة، وأريد أن تفهم على غير وجهها الصحيح، وصاحبها - فى بعض الأحيان - تضليل يعمى على الناس حقيقتها. لهذا وغيره كانت هذه الدراسة "الإستشراق بين الحقيقة والتضليل"، التى حاولت فيها أن أجلى حقيقة الأمر فى هذا الموضوع الخطير، مدللاً على كل قضية أسوقها، أو رأى أذهب إليه، متجرداً من الهوى، فإن وفقت للصواب فمن فضل الله تعالى، وإن كان غير ذلك فمن نفسى، وأستغفر الله من كل تقصير. وهذا البحث المتواضع أردت به أن يكون بمثابة مدخل إلى دراسة موضوع الإستشراق والمستشرقين، بينت فيه حقيقة الاستشراق ومفهومه، وذكرت إطلالة على نشاته وتاريخه، ودوافعه ووسائله، ثم أمطت اللثام عن ملامح منهج البحث الاستشراقى فى الدراسات الإسلامية، ثم ختمته بذكر نماذج من حملات المستشرقين ومفترياتهم على الإسلام. وقد كان هذا البحث فى أصلة مجموعة من المحاضرات ألقيتها على طلاب وطالبات كليات أصول الدين والدعوة والدراسات الإسلامية والعربية بجامعة الأزهر الشريف.
