حسان علي حلاق (1946 - ) هو كاتب وأكاديمي لبناني وُلد ببيروت عام 1946 بمنطقة الطريق الجديدة، حصل على دبلوم عال في الدراسات الإسلامية ثم ماجستير في التاريخ عام 1977، وبعدها حصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة الإسكندرية عام 1981، ألّف حلاق عدة مؤلفات وقد ترجم عديد منها إلى الألمانية والإنجليزية. وهو عضو في اتحاد الكتاب اللبنانيين. وحائز على جائزة جامعة الإسكندرية التقديرية عام 2007. متزوج وله ولدان وثلاث بنات.

ألّف حلاق أكثر من خمسين مؤلفاً في مواضيع تاريخية وإسلامية، ومن أشهرها:

تعتبر "مناهج البحث العلمي" في مختلف ميادين العلوم الإنسانية والإجتماعية، وكذلك في ميادين العلوم البحتة، المقدمة الأساسية في تكوين الفكر العلمي السليم المنظم المنهجي، وتلك المناهج هي المقدمة الأساسية في إعداد البحوث والدراسات النظرية والعملية على السواء.
إن "مناهج البحث العلمي" (Methodology) أصبحت لدى الباحثين طرائق منهجية وعلمية، لها قواعد وأساليب وأنظمة تحكمها، بهدف التوصل إلى بحوث ودراسات على مستوى علمي متقدم.
ومن الأهمية بمكان، أن هذه المناهج العلمية ليست قوالب جامدة، بل هي متطورة بإستمرار، تعتمد التحديث والتجديد في كثير من أساليبها وقواعدها وأدواتها، لأن البحث العلمي في القرن التاسع عشر وأدواته، هو غير البحث العلمي في القرن العشرين والواحد والعشرين، ولأن التكنولوجيا والعلوم في تلك الفترة كانت متواضعة ومحدودة، في حين أن التكنولوجيا وتقدم العلوم باتت اليوم أدوات أساسية في مجال البحث العلمي.
لهذا حرصنا على وضع مناهج علمية قديمة ووسيطة وحديثة ومعاصرة بهدف المقارنة العلمية، فضلاً من أننا اعتمدنا منهج ربط العلوم النظرية والبحتة بعضها مع البعض الآخر، لأن جميع العلوم باتت مترابطة ومساعدة في مختلف البحوث والدراسات العلمية.
