لقد ارتبط إدمان بعض المجتمعات على المخدرات بأمور اكثر فتكا، مثل نقل الأمراض من شخص إلى آخر سواءً بنقله جنسياً كالإيدز، أو بنقله عن طريق الحقن غير المعقمة، وغيرها من الطرق، وكاثار غير مباشرة للادمان،هناك الكثير من الأمراض التي تنقل من المدمنين إلى أشخاص آخرين وان كانوا مدمنين، إلاّ أنهم وبسبب الانحرافات السلوكية كالشذوذ والجنس والممارسات غير السوية وتحت تأثير المخدرات ينتقل إليهم أمراض كالزهري والسيلان وغيرها.
إن الاحتياطات التي يتخذها المجتمع، أي مجتمع في هذا الكون، يجب أن تبدأ بالأسرة، فالعائلة، فالمجتمع، فالدولة التي يجب أن تكون إجراءاتها في موضوع المكافحة فعّالة، بحيث تفوّّّت الفرصة على كل من يتاجر بأرواح الناس.
