إنّنا لن نجاب الصواب إذا ما وصفنا نظرية النحو العربي بأنَّها آية من آيات العقل الإسلامي، حيَّرت الدارسين بحثاً عن سرِّ إعجازها الذي اختفى في فلسفة المنهج، ومفاهيمه المعرفية، ومبادئه، وأسسه، أو ما يمكن أن نصطلح عليه بالفكر المؤسس لتلك النظرية.
ويمكن أن نَصفَ الإتجاه الذي درس منهج النحو العربي في ضوء علم أصول الفقه لتحديد مفهومه، وكشف مبادئه المولّدة، وأسّس ما عُرِف بعلم أصول النحو أنَّه أول محاولة علمية جادة سعت إلى تشخيص الأسس المعرفية للنحو العربي لإعتقاد أصحاب هذا الإتجاه بأنَّ أدلة النحو يمكن وصفها بالأصول كما أنَّ أدلة الفقه توصف بالأصول، كما أشار إلى ذلك الأنباري في مقدمة رسالته الثانية (لمع الأدلة).
