إن الحب أساس العلاقات.. الإنسانية، وأرقى ما يتصف به مؤمن، من مكارم الأخلاق، وهو فوق ذلك كله.. أصل من أصول الدين، ولا يتم الإيمان إلا به.. ولذلك يقول الرسول الكريم، سيدنا محمد (صلى الله عليه وسلم) نبع الحب في الوجود: "أحب لأخيك كما تحب لنفسك". وبدون الحب، لا يقوم نظام، ولا يستقيم حكم، ولا يستقر عدل، ولا تنظم أسرة، ولا يرتفع مجتمع، ولاترتقي أمة. وفي التعاليم المحمدية، أن المرء لا يكون إنساناً كاملاً، وحراً طليقاً، إلا إذا تحرر من عبودية خمس: الشهرة والغضب، والطمع، والتملك، والغرور. ولهذا عني القرآن الكريم بأسباب الحب، وحض على التمسك بها وفي ذلك قوله تعالى لرسوله الرءوف الحبيب، خذ العفو وأمر بالمعروف واعرض عن الجاهين (صدق الله العظيم).
