نشأ الدكتور محمد حبش في مدرسة عمه الشيخ أحمد كفتارو للعلوم الإسلامية في دمشق، وحفظ القرآن الكريم على يد الشيخ محمد سكر، كما درس العلوم الإسلامية في المعهد الشرعي للدعوة والإرشاد وحصل على درجة الإقراء بالقراءات المتواترة من شيوخ القراء ومن الفتوى السورية.
نال الإجازة في الشريعة من جامعة دمشق ثم تابع تحصيله العلمي ونال ثلاث درجات ليسانس في العلوم العربية والإسلامية من جامعات دمشق وطرابلس وبيروت كما حصل على الماجستير ونال الدكتوراه من جامعة القرآن الكريم في الخرطوم بإشراف الدكتور العلامة وهبة الزحيلي والدكتور العلامة محمد علي الإمام عام 1996، حيث بدأ بالتدريس الجامعي في جامعة دمشق وكلية الدعوة الإسلامية وأصول الدين بدمشق.
وفي عام 2010 أعلنت جامعة كرايوفا، أعرق الجامعات الرومانية أن رتبة دكتوراه الشرف قد خصصت للدكتور محمد حبش تقديراً لبحوثه ونشاطه في حوار الأديان وبشكل خاص كتابه سيرة الرسول محمد، وقد قامت الجامعة بترجمته للرومانية واعتبر مقرراً على طلبة كليات اللاهوت في الجامعة.
يتبنى الدكتور محمد حبش مشروع التجديد الديني ، وقد تخصص في التنوير الإسلامي وحوار الأديان، وقد تبنّى عدداً من قضايا التجديد الديني أهمها: رفض احتكار الخلاص، وتجديد فقه المرأة في الإسلام، وتعزيز المذهب الإنساني في الإسلام، وإحياء مصادر الشريعة الغائبة مما يعني منح دور أكبر في التشريع للعقل على حساب النص.
كان واعظاً وخطيباً وإماماً لثلاثين سنة في مسجد الزهراء بدمشق، ثم مؤسساً ومديراً لمعاهد القرآن الكريم في سوريا، ومستشاراً لمركز الدراسات الإسلامية، كما انتخب مرتين رئيساً لجمعية علماء الشريعة بدمشق بالإضافة لممارسته التأليف والشعر والكتابة.
تبنى في البرلمان عدداً من القضايا التشريعية والقانونية ومنها قانون الجنسية للمرأة السورية، وقانون الحضانة، وقانون تحسين رواتب الموظفين الدينيين، كما نجح في منع ظاهرة الإعلان عن الفحشاء في سوريا.
انتقل منذ 2012 إلى الإمارات وعمل بالتدريس الجامعي في جامعة أبو ظبي أستاذاً للفقه الإسلامي في كلية القانون، وكلية الآداب والعلوم.
حصل على جائزة رابطة كتب التجديد عن كتابه الدبلوماسية بدل الحرب 2017 و جوائز دولية عدة منها جوائز المسابقة الدولية للقرآن الكريم في السعودية وليبيا وإيران وغيرها كثير من جوائزَ أخرى...
Book Description
We feel honored to present to our respectable readers the English edition of the biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) after it has been published more than 30 times in Arabic and After the publication of the Romanian version which was adopted by the University of Craiova as a source for introducing the Prophet of Islam to the world. It is high time for us that we present a correct conception of the Prophet of Islam amidst the hustle and bustle taking place between the East and the West nowadays particularly after the break out of the bloody uprising in the middle East against dictatorships and oppressive regimes. So, was Islam really a message of horror and terror? Did Prophet Muhammad really make people embrace Islam by sword and war? This biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) offers the readers a different answer; however, before going into more details I should mention that this biography was written 25years ago. It only included a historical narration of the events in the Prophet’s life in an easy language that brought together the main narrations of main historians without any personal interference concerning examining those narrations of criticizing them.
