في روايته "ذئاب منوية" يقدم الروائي أحمد أبو سليم مادة حكائية ذات صلة جوهرية ببنية العنوان النصية، وذلك حين يجعل من بطله "إدريس" ضحية لخداع جدته أولاً، التي أخبرته أن جده مات شهيداً في القدس عام 1967م، والتي وضعت - أي الجدة - صورته معلقة على الجدار، فوق سريرها، إلى جانب صورة لعبد القادر الحسيني، وملصق نعي لأبيه، بينما هو في الحقيقة لقيط جدته على باب الدير، وعمره يوم واحد، تقاسمت تربيته ورهبان الدير؛ أما الخداع الثاني اكتشفه إدريس متأخراً حينما وجد نفسه بعد مرحلة نضال طويلة يُساق وفي ظروف غامضة إلى أفغانستان، ليحارب مع القاعدة، دون أن يكون منتمياً عقائدياً لأي فريق من الأطراف المتحاربة، وكانت النتيجة أنه يُساق إلى غوانتانامو، ويُسجن هناك، ثم يعود فيما بعد إلى عمان، ليلتقي بأبيه الحقيقي الذي قضى خمسة وعشرين عاماً معتقلاً لسبب لا يعرفه.
والرواية بهذا المعنى، دعوة إلى إعادة النظر في المفاهيم، التي بدأت تتساقط في الشارع العربي مفهوماً وراء الآخر، وتدخل في حالة التباس واضح، فلا تعريف حقيقي للبطولة وكذا الخيانة، أو الشهادة، أو الحقوق المغتصبة، أو الحق في الحياة، فمن له الحق في قتل الآخرين وتخوينهم، ومن له الحق في إشعال الحروب وإطفائها. لقد استطاع الروائي أحمد ابو سليم أن يلقي بقعة ضوء مهمة على موضوعة الإرهاب ووقوده وأدواته، ويطرح أسئلة أخلاقية تدل على وعي كامل بما يجري، فجاءت الرواية معادلاً حقيقياً للحقيقة الضائعة، تجدر قراءتها.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ: "ضربَتْ رأسي موجة قاصمة، فانتفضت ... متى جئت إلى أفغانستان؟ لماذا لم تبحث عني، فتحي، هل اكتشفوا جثة بسام؟ هل بوسعي العودة إلى عمان؟ فتحي، لماذا لم ترسل لي كي أعود؟ فتحي.
سقطت الأسئلة وطفت فوق الماء ... الأصوات توجعني، العتمة توجعني، هززته كالمجنون، لكنه كان قد مات ...".
