اختلف أقوال العلماء في عدد التكبيرات على الجنائز بين مقتصر على الأربع وبين زائد عليها مثل ابن حزم في الحمامي: قال: "ويكبر الإمام والمأمومون بتكبير الإمام على الجنائز خمس تكبيرات على الأكثر، فإن كبّروا أربعاً فحسن.. وإن كبّروا سبعا كرهناه واتبعناه. والنورمي في شرح المهذن، الذي خلص إلى القول:"كان بين الصحابة خلاف، ثم انقرض وأجمعوا على أنه أربع، لكن لو كبر الإمام خمساً، لم تبطل صلاته أن كان ناسياً، وكذا إن عامدا على الصحيح، لكن لا يتابعه المأموم على الصحيح. وابن القيم في زاد المعاد مرجحا قول الجمهور: ست تكبيرات. وابن رشد المفيد في البداية مرجحا قول الجمهور أي الأربع. والشيخ الألباني في كتابه الممتع:"أحكام الجنائز وبدعها مفضيا إلى القول ويكبر عليها أربعا أو خمسا، إلى تسع تكبيرات، كل ذلك ثبت عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فأيها فعل أجزأه، فيفعل هذا تارة، وهذا تارة.. أما المؤلف الصديق الغماري في رسالته هذه "الإجازة في التكبير على الجنازة، فهو قد أسهب تحقيقا وتحريرا في المسألة، مما استدعى العمل على تحقيق كتابه هذا. وكان عمل المحقق كالتالي: التقديم لها، تصحيحها مما وقع فيها من تصحيف أو تحريف، تخريج أحاديثها، عزو نقولها، فهرسة أحاديثها بالإضافة إلى هذه الرسالة ضم الكتاب رسالة الغماري نفسه "الآمال المستظرفة على الرسالة المستطرفة، ثم رسالتا الشيخ محمد بوخبزة "تعليقات وتقديمات على الرسالة المستطرفة" ر " النقد الثرية تراث المغاربة في الحديث وعلومه"
كتاب مهم اذ يبين لنا الطريقة الصحيحة في الصلاة على الجنائز. لقد اختلفت اقوال العلماء في عدد التكبيرات على الجنائز من حيث الترجيح بين مقتصر على الاربع وبين زائد عليها، وفي هذا الكتاب فقد اسهب المؤلف تحقيقاً وتحريراً في المسالة واوضح الطريقة الصحيحة في هذه الصلاة. ويتضمن الكتاب في طيه،- كتاب الامالي المستطرفة على الرسالة المستظرفة للغماري- الطرفة في نظم القاب الحديث للشيخ محمد العربي الفاسي- شوارق الانوار المنيفة بظهور النواجذ الشريفة للغماري
