أبو بركات البغدادي، مفكر كبير تم إهماله لأن فكره يتمرد على التصنيفات الدارجة التي حكمت قراءة الإستشراق للفكر الإسلامي من زاوية أنه تنويعات على التراث اليوناني.
البغدادي كان شيئاً آخر، إذ ذهب في إقامة بنيته النظرية والفكرية على مسائل الدين التي صاغها علم الكلام الإسلامي، ومارس التفكير من داخل الثقافة العربية الإسلامية وواجه مطالب هذه الثقافة من دون إعتماد مرجعية ناجزة.
إن البغدادي يقدّم لنا درساً يفتح إحتمالات أخرى في فهمنا لهويتنا الثقافية ويدعونا للإجابة عن أسئلتنا الخاصة وفق شروط الأسئلة ذاتها، الأمر الذي يقتضي ممارسة فلسفيّة نقديّة من نوع آخر، كما يطرح علينا واجب البحث عن تأسيس أصيل الفكر، وإبداع، ونحت، وصياغة مفاهيم تفرضها بيئتنا الثقافية، وليس إنشاء توليفات ومقاربات وتوفيقات بين ما تم تأسيسه في بيئة ثقافية أخرى وبين عناصر من التراث أو من الدين الإسلامي.
إن فكر البغدادي يمثل إجابات أصيلة أدركت هموم وأسئلة الثقافة العربية وعالجتها من داخل إقتضاءاتها، وبذلك هو يقدّم درساً في الهويّة وفي كيفيّة معالجة المطالب الثقافية لهذه الهويّة.
