عندما يدور الكلام عن هيجل، فإن الموضوع يتناول صيغة الفعل الفلسفي ومصيره (ونتائجه) لكن الحديث عن هيجل ليس سهلًا، فعلى الرغم مما أولى لفلسفته من اهتمام، سواء كان مباشرًا من قبل طلاب الجامعات الألمانية أو غير مباشر من طرف الفلاسفة، وعلى الرغم من كل ما قيل وكتب، فما زالت المنظومة صعبة، غامضة، يصعب سبر أغوارها حتى على أولئك الذين كان همهم الوحيد هو دراسة هيجل، فلقد كتب ألكسندر كويري يقول "هنالك نقطة يتفق حولها كل المؤرخين والكتاب، وهي أن فلسفة هيجل صعبة للغاية، وهذا أمر غريب، ذلك أن هيجل كان معلمًا لجيل بكامله، فلقد كون العديد من التلاميذ ولم يكن للتأثير الذي مارسه على القرن التاسع عشر مثيل سواء في ألمانيا أو خارجها، لقد حظيت أعماله بما لا حصر له من التعليقات، وبإعجاب منقطع النظير، فكان من الطبيعي أن يكون ولوج صرح الفكر الهيجلي سهلًا ومع ذلك فقد جاء الأمر خلاف ذلك، ومع ذلك فإن الفكر الفلسفي المعاصر قد أنبى برمته على الهيجلية، فلقد تأسست الماركسية على نقده، ثم جاء نيتشه وهو سرل وهيدجر، جاءوا وكان همهم الوحيد، خلخلة الميتافيزيقا كما شيد صرحها هيجل، وأخيرًا فلقد ظل الفكر الفلسفي المعاصر كله يتحرك في مناخ الأرضية التي رسم هيجل معالمها، فهيجل "هو الحقيقة وقد اكتملت".
