هذا، ويحتوي الكتاب عشرة فصول: أما الفصل الأول فيتناول طبيعة الرياضيات وتاريخ تطورها وتطور أنظمة العد والترقيم، وأما الفصل الثاني فيتناول أهداف تعليم الرياضيات وتصنيفها وصياغتها، كما يتناول الفصل الثالث التخطيط لتعليم الرياضيات، ويتناول الفصل الرابع إستراتيجيات تدريس الرياضيات، ويركز الفصل الخامس على تدريس الرياضيات في المرحلة الأساسية الدنيا، ويعالج الفضل السادس نظريات التعلم والتعليم المعرفية وتطبيقاتها في تدريس الرياضيات، كما يعالج الفصل السابع بعض الإتجاهات الحديثة في تعليم الرياضيات وتعلمها، أما الفصل الثامن فيتناول صعوبات تعلم الرياضيات، وتناول الفصل التاسع تقويم تعلم الطلبة للرياضيات، وأخيراً فإن الفصل العاشر فيتناول تكوين معلم الرياضيات.
