منّ الله تبارك وتعالى علي ّ بقراءة كتاب "التوحيد"، والقسم الموجود المطبوع من كتاب "الصحيح"، كلاهما للإمام الحافظ ابن خزيمة رحمه الله، فجردت منهما كلامه في الرواة تجريحاً وتعديلاً، ورتبته على حروف المعجم، وكان ذلك قبل بضع سنين، ثم بدا لي أن أجرد من كلام الحافظ ابن خزيمة في الرواة ما فيه من الفوائد الزوائد، فحذفت ما رأيت أن في كتب ابن حجر المشهورة في أحوال الرواة غنية عنه، أعني بها "تهذيب التهذيب" و"لسان الميزان" و"تعجيل المنفعة"، وأبقيت هذا "المنتخب"، سائلاً المولى عز وجل أن يرزقني الإخلاص، ويمن علي بالقبول، إنه سميع مجيب.
هذا وأود أن أضع بين يدي القراء بعض المسائل المتعلقة بهذا العلم الشريف، رجاء نيل دعوة صالحة من أخ بظهر الغيب، مشفوعة بنصيحة صادقة تصلح الخلل وتسدد المسار.
