يعد كتاب "جمع الجوامع في النحو" للإمام جلال الدين السيوطي متناً هاماً في النحو، بحيث يمكننا القول أنّ أوسع وأشمل وأجمع ما كتب كمتن في النحو.
فهو أشمل من المتون المعروفة في النحو، وعلى رأسهم متن الكافية لابن الحاجب.
بل إنّ من مزايا هذا المتن أنّه يمكن اعتباره كتاباً دراسياً أو مرجعاً في النحو وليس مجرد متن، خاصة إذا اضفنا إليه شرحه المعروف همع الهوامع للمؤلف نفسه.
كل ما في الأمر أنّ هذا المتن الذي بين أيدينا لا يصلح للمبتدئين، ولا يدرس في الأروقة و الحوزات العلمية كثيراً، فلذلك قلت شهرته عن متون أخرى مشهورة، كالألفية، و القطر، وغيرهما .
ولكن عندما ننظر لهذا المتن من منظور آخر، نجد أنّه شديد النفع للطالب المتوسط، و المتقدم، بسبب عظم شأن مصنفه، وأسلوبه البارع المعروف عنه، في الإختصار، و التبويب، والجمع العلمي، الذي امتد إلى شتى المعارف والعلوم الإسلامية.
لذلك فنحن نخرجه للقارئ الكريم في حلة قشيبية، مع المحافظة على الإعتماد في التحقيقات على نسخة مكتبة الآداب، لأنها من أنفع النسخ تحقيقاً، لأنها حققت على خمس مخطوطات من قبل الدكتور نصر إبراهيم أحمد عبد العال ولعلو شأن مكتبة الآداب، وتميزها دائماً في خدمة العلوم العربية.
