هشام جعيط، ولد في 6 ديسمبر 1935 في تونس العاصمة، هو جامعي ومؤرخ ومفكر تونسي.
سيرته
ولد هشام جعيط لعائلة من المثقفين و القضاة وكبار المسؤولين من البرجوازية الكبيرة في تونس العاصمة : و هو حفيد الوزير الأكبر يوسف جعيط و ابن أخ العالم والشيخ محمد عبد العزيز جعيط.
زاول هشام جعيط تعليمه الثانوي بالمدرسة الصادقية قبل ان يواصل تعليمه العالي في العاصمة الفرنسية باريس اين تحصل على شهادة التبريز في التاريخ سنة 1962. حاصل على دكتوراه في التاريخ الإسلامي من جامعة السوربون بباريس سنة 1981. قام بنشر العديد من الأعمال الفكرية و الأكاديمية صدرت باللغتين العربية والفرنسية.
أستاذ فخري لدى جامعة تونس، درّس كأستاذ زائر بعدة جامعات عربيّة، أوروبيّة و أميركية منها جامعة ماك غيل (مونتريال) وجامعة كاليفورنيا، بركلي وبمعهد فرنسا. تولى رئاسة المجمع التونسي للعلوم والآداب والفنون "بيت الحكمة" بين سنتي 2012 و 2015 و هو عضو في الأكاديمية الأوروبية للعلوم والفنون.
