يحاول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أن يعرض لقضية الفروق الدلالية من خلال عرض قضية الترادف في وجهة نظر لغوية، وما لها صلة بالدرس الدلالي حيث يشغل المعنى اللغوي جميع المتكلمين باللغة وكل من له صلة بها.
لقد عرض المؤلف لقضية الترادف من خلال ما قيل عنها وفيها قديماً وحديثاً تم طبّق على كتاب الفروق اللغوية لأبي هلال العسكري، وقد جاءت هذه الدراسة في ثلاثة فصول، حيث تناول الفصل الأول ترجمة لمؤلف الكتاب أبي هلال العسكري إضافة إلى الأصول النظرية التي اعتمد عليها في كتابه الفروق اللغوية والتي يسعى من ورائها إلى التأكيد على عدم وقوع الترادف بحال.
أما الفصل الثاني فتناول الترادف بين القدماء والمحدثين مناقشاً آراء كلا الفريقين ما له وما عليه.
أما الفصل الثالث والأخير فعرض لمنهج التحليل الدلالي عند أبي هلال نم خلال التطبيق على مادة الكتاب، مع اعتماد المؤلف في ذلك تنظيماً وتبويباً جديداً.
وفي نهاية الكتاب جاءت الخاتمة التي حوت أهم النتائج والملاحظات التي خلص إليها المؤلف في دراسته هذه.
