تطور علم الدلالة تطوراً ملحوظاً في السنوات الأخيرة, وحقق إنجازات قيمة, لا سيما في الميدان التطبيقي, ويعد الدرس الدلالي بصفة خاصة من أكثر الاتجاهات التي أغرت الباحثين لما له من أثر كبير في الكشف عن أسرار النص اللغوي والوقوف على جهود العلماء القدماء في الشرح والدرس اللغوي, ولعل هذا ما يفسر كثرة الدراسات الحديثة التي تتناول الدرس الدلالي في الشروح والمؤلفات.
أما القسم الأول الذي ألفته دكتورة رانيا عيسى فيتناول تطبيق الوسائل التحليلية الدلالية على ديوان الحماسة, وقد تناول التمهيد: علم الدلالة, تعريفه وأهم مجالاته وعلاقته بغيره من المستويات. وجاء الفصل الأول تحت عنوان "طرق تفسير المعنى", أما الفصل الثاني فيختص بـ"الاشتقاق", الفصل الثالث ويعرض "للسياق", الفصل الرابع ويعنى بـ"أنواع الدلالات", أما الفصل الخامس فهو يختص بـ"الحقوق الدلالية", وعرضت في الفصل السادس "للتطور الدلالي", ويهتم الفصل السابع بـ"دراسة تعدد اللفظ والمعنى واحد وتعدد المعنى للفظ الواحد, ويدور الفصل الثامن حول "الوسائل التي اتبعها التبريزي لتأكيد المعنى الذي يتناوله, أما الفصل التاسع فيتناول "علاقة علم الدلالة بغيره من المستويات اللغوية, أما القسم الثاني وهو للدكتور فوزي عيسى فيشتمل على تطبيقات في علم الدلالة من خلال مجموعة من النصوص الشعرية المختلفة.
