Book Description
"كتاب الجغرافية"- بالعين المهملة- من تراث السلف الإسلامي الأندلسي. وهو في آن واحد معروف مجهول, عرفه كتاب العرب القدماء ونقلوا عنه القطع والصفحات الطوال ولم يذكروا مع ذلك اسم مؤلفه. وتناقله النساخ- خصوصاً في المغرب العربي- وأهملوا كذلك اسم مؤلفه. وإن المخطوطات التي وصلتنا منه كثيرة من بينها للتحقيق على تسع نسخ.
كل هذه المخطوطات متأخرة عن عصر الكاتب وليس من بينها "أم" أو "بنت" منقولة عنها وكلها متسمة بأنواع الخلل اللغوي وغير اللغوي على اختلاف بعضها عن بعض. أما عنوانه فقد ورد هكذا في سائر النسخ بالعين المهملة عوض الموحدة وذلك على لغة جارية عند كتاب المغرب والأندلس على ما قيل. ومعنى كلمة "جغرافية" في الأصل خريطة والخريطة المثالية هي خريطة الخليفة المأمون الشهيرة التي نسخت عنها غيرها.
فيقول مؤلفها في المقدمة: "إني نسخت هذه الجغرافية من نسخة نسخت من جغرافية الفزاري التي نسخت من جغرافية أمير المؤمنين عبدالله المأمون بن هارون الرشيد, التي اجتمع عليها وعلى عملها سبعون رجلاً من فلاسفة العراق, فوضعوها على صفة الأرض, وإن كانت على غير الحقيقة من ذلك. لأن الأرض كورية, والجغرافية بسيطة, لكنهم بسطوها كما بسطوا الأسطرلاب, وكما بسطوا هيئات الكسوف في دواوينهم, ليعلم الناظر فيها جميع أجزائها وأصقاعها وحدودها وأقاليمها وبحارها وأنهارها وجبالها ومعمورها وقفرها وحيث تقع كل مدينة من مدائنها".
