هو من أبرز الدراسات المعاصرة التي تناولت علم الخرائط، ووضحت لنا دورها وخصائصها وأهميتها ورسمها وغير ذلك من المحاور الهامة ويشتمل الكتاب على 14 موضوعًا، يتناول كل واحد منها درسًا معينًا في مجال الجغرافية العملية، فالموضوع الأول اختص بتقديم عجالة سريعة لأدوات الجغرافيا والجغرافي والتي أهمها الخرائط وعلاقة الجغرافية العملية بالدراسة الميدانية، بينما اختص الموضوع الثاني بالتعرض لتطور الخرائط وكان مقدمة للموضوع الثالث الذي صنف الخرائط ونوعها والموضوع الرابع عرض لوصف الأجهزة المختلفة المستخدمة في قياس عناصر الطقس والمناخ، والأجهزة والأدوات التي تستخدم في رسم الخرائط والعمليات المساحية، وشمل الموضوع الخامس العملياة المختلفة التي يلجأ الباحث إليها لتعين الاتجاه الشمالي سواء على الطبيعة أو الخريطة وفي بقية الموضوعات تناول الخرائط ونقلها وتكبيرها وتصغيرها، وتمثيل المظاهر التضاريسية على الخرائط وطرق إخراج الخريطة وكيفية تلوينها وتجسيمها والرموز المستخدمة فيها وغير ذلك.
