الموضوع الذي خاضه هذا الكتاب، هو موضوع تأسيس جمهورية "مهاباد" الكردية وأسبابه ودوافعه، والتنظيمات السياسية السرية والعلنية التي مهدت له، والرجال الذين لعبوا دوراً مهماً فيه، كما يتناول سقوط هذه الجمهورية التي لم تدم سوى عام ونصف تقريباً، والأسباب التي قادتها إلى هذا السقوط السريع.
على الرغم من الغنى التاريخي المزدحم بالحوادث والوقائع المهمة التي يخطب الباحثون ود الحصول عليها، فإن المصادر المتوفرة عنها قليلة، ولا تتناسب مع أهميتها السياسية والإجتماعية ولا مع دورها الفعال في حركة التاريخ، وتأثيرها الكبير على مجرى الأحداث في هذه المنطقة ذات الأهمية الإستراتيجية، وما كتب بصدد ذلك في اللغة العربية، على الرغم من قلّته التي ذكرناها قبل قليل، فإنه كثير الإعتماد على ما ألّفه الأجانب الذين أهّلهم تطور بلادهم الحضاري وسبقها الثقافي على سبر أغوار الأحداث التي مرت بالمناطق الكردية، مما يجعلنا بحاجة دائمة إلى ترجمة تلك الكتب التي سنحت لها الفرصة بتسجيل ما فاتنا تسجيله من تلك الوقائع.
