قسمت هذه الدراسة إلى اربعة أبواب، باب تمهيدي وثلاثة أبواب رئيسية، وقد سلكت في عرضها مسلكاً يتفق وتحقيق الغاية المرجوة.
في الباب التمهيدي تناولت ماهية التحكيم ومراحل تطوره، وقسمته إلى فصلين: بحثت في الأول المراحل التاريخية لتطور التحكيم، ثم التحكيم في عهد الدولة الإسلامية، وأيضاً في القرون الوسطى بأوروبا وتطوره خلال القرن العشرين، أما الفصل الثاني فقد بحثت فيه تعريف التحكيم اصطلاحاً، وأهمية التحكيم وغايته، وأصل مشروعيته، ومزاياه وعيوبه.
أما الباب الأول فقد خصصته لدراسة شروط صحة اتفاق التحكيم وكتابته، وفيه فصلان، تناولت في الأول شروط صحة الاتفاق التحكيمي "الرضا، المحل، الأهلية" وفي الثاني بحثت في شرط كتابة الاتفاق التحكيمي، وموقف بعض القوانين الوضعية منها ونظرة الاتفاقيات الدولية إليها.
وفي الباب الثاني تكلمت عن "الاستقلالية إتفاق التحكيم"، وأخيراُ تناولت في الباب الثالث آثار اتفاق التحكيم وانقضاءه، وأنهيت هذه الدراسة بخاتمة تضمنت خلاصة البحث بشيء من الإيجاز وأتبعت ذلك بعرض للمقترحات التي أراها لازمة لكي يحقق التحكيم الهدف الذي من أجله ارتضاه الفرقاء بديلاً عن القضاء الوطني لحل منازعاتهم القائمة أو المحتملة.
