القيم الاجتماعية اليوم هي أكثر معالم الحياة التي تتأثر وتهتز بالعولمة في وقت أصبحت فيه صيحات التحذير والإنذار لا أثر لها، وهذا يعني أننا بحاجة إلى تكوين ما يسمى بالضبط الداخلي أثناء عملية التنشئة الاجتماعية للناشئ من خلال تكوين نسق من القيم المربية وتشكيل الناشئة في ضوء هذا النسق فيكون جزءًا من تكوينها يتضح في سلوها، وذلك بالوقوف على اسهامات رجال الفكر، والأدب، والعمل الحالي تناول الشعر بصفة خاصة إطار دور الشاعر في صياغة الحياة الاجتماعية بالكشف عن القيم المربية في شعره، وكيف تسهم هذه القيم في صياغة الحياة التربوية والاجتماعية بشكل عام، وشاعرنا في هذا العمل هو الشاعر الثائر الرافض المقاوم أمل دنقل.
وقد اهتم هذا الكتاب بالبعد الشخصي، ويتناول الشخصية من حيث النشأة والتكوين الفكري والأدبي مع تناول المناخ العام للمجتمع والأوضاع الاقتصادية والسياسية والحياة المجتمعية، مما أثر على حياة وجهات وشعر أمل دنقل، البعد الفكري، ويعرض لبعض القضايا المحورية في فكر أمل دنقل وتصوراته تجاهها، وموقفه منها سواء كانت قضايا سياسية أو اقتصادية أو اجتماعية.. إلخ، البعد التاريخي: تمتد الدراسة تاريخيًا خلال الفترة من (1940 - 1983) وهي فترة حياة أمل دنقل، البعد التحليلي: وينصب على تحليل الأعمال الكاملة للشاعر أمل دنقل للوصول إلى القيم المربية في تلك الأعمال للاستفادة منها.
وقد كان ذلك من خلال خطة بحث تتكون من أربعة فصول هي: الفصل الأول: أمل دنقل شاعر الرفض والمقاومة، الفصل الثاني: القضايا الرئيسية في عصره (فترة حياة أمل دنقل 1940 - 1983)، الفصل الثالث: بعض القضايا المحورية في شعر وفكر أمل دنقل وموقفه منها، الفصل الرابع: نسق القيم في شعر أمل دنقل، وخاتمة.
