قال الشيخ لفلورا:
- ألما يا ابنتي كانت مثفراشة.. تحلق.. وكانت تضيء ليل الجبهة وتضيء هذا القلب...
ثم ربت بكفه على أوتار العود وتابع:
هي في خيالي باستمرار، تجري وسط الأشجار والورود وتطير.. تدير ظهرها للجبهة وتواجه البحر بيدين مشرعتين للريح وتبتسم. أراقبها تحت النخلة مثل زهرة برية يافعة تقاوم الظلال الباردة.
حكى الشيخ أنهم جميعاً كانوا يصعدون جبل "مرسى الدار" في بداية الخمسينيات، يعزفون فوق قمته العالية. أو في "الغريفة" المطلة على الميناء، تلمع عينا ألما سعادة وحنيناً وهي تضحك للشمس. بينما الشيخ يعزف وهو يتشرب رحيق عينيها الضاحكتين. تضيء الشمس خصلات شعرها وتضيء قلبه. يختلس النظر إليها وهو يواصل العزف على العود.. وحين أراد ذات مساء ربيعي عذب أن يهمس في أذنيها بارتعاش، قالت له وهي تنسحب مثل الغروب،
لا تقل شيئاً.. إني أراه في عينيك
