كيف يمكن لنا أن نلملم أطراف ذكريات رجل بدأ ينسج تاريخه الاجتماعي والثقافي والسياسي وهو في سن العاشرة من عمر طفولته.. نسيج فيه من التعقيد وتشابك العلاقات ما قد يجعل الناسج نفسه يضيِّع رأس الخيط.
لكن شخصية مثل جلال طالباني، أو "مام جلال"، كما يحب أن يسميه الآخرون، لم ولن يضيِّع أي حدث أو خيط أو مكان أو وقت أو جهد عندما بدأ بالفعل ينسج خريطة حياته بالرغم من التعقيدات والمعوقات والمطاردات الأمنية ومحاولات الاغتيال والاعتقالات.
بل إنه نسجها واجاد نسيجها في واحدة من أكثر المناطق قلقا وصعوبة، في جبال ووديان كردستان العراق.
ومفردة "مام" هنا تعني باللغة الكردية وحرفيا العم، لكنها مع جلال طالباني تصفه بالنابغة، فقد أُطلقت عليه وهو في الصف الرابع الابتدائي، وهذه أكثر صفة ممكن أن تعرّف به.
لم يكن هذا الرجل حالما أو رومانسيا ثوريا أو منظرا، بل كان مناضلا بالفعل، ومقاتلا شرسا وعنيدا في الدفاع، ليس عن قضية شعبه الكردي فحسب، بل عن قضية الشعب العراقي، مؤمنا بالشعار الذي رفعه منذ بدايات الثورة الكردية "الحرية لكردستان، والديمقراطية للعراقيين".
كثير من التقاطعات والمتناقضات والمتغيرات أحاطت حياة جلال طالباني، والعديد من التضاريس الصعبة والعصية على التعامل معها، رافقت جغرافية تحركاته، وبرغم ذلك استطاع أن يروضها ويطوّع المصاعب لتكون رهن ما يخطط ويعمل من أجله، وأن ينسج حياته بإتقان، أن يجعل من هذه التقاطعات والتناقضات والمتغيرات والصعوبات عوامل دفع ومحفزات لأن ينجح في مسيرته، فهو سليل عائلة متدينة، آباؤه وأجداده من المشايخ الذين توارثوا مشيخة التكية الطالبانية في كركوك وكويسنجق، لكن حياته أخذت منحى آخر.
