في كتابه هذا، يستحضر الكاتب أحمد إبراهيم الدسوقي، عدداً من الصحابيات المحاربات في عصر صدر الإسلام، من اللواتي شاركن في الغزوات والحروب، والمعارك وقد ساقها بنفس ملحمي، روائي، متعدد العناصر، منها الحكاية، والشخصية، والحدث، أو الفعل، وقد فعل هذا بحبكة نابعة من كل شخصية يرد إسمها في الكتاب، وقد جمع أخبارهن من كتب التاريخ والسيرة، أو من كتب الفقه والأدب، حيث وردت أخبار كل صحابية استطاعت أن تقوم بعمل كان له تأثيره في سير المعركة، أو شاركت غيرها من الصحابيات فيه ... ومنها معركة بدر وأُحد والخندق وغيرها، كما يشير الكاتب إلى أنه ذكر إسم هاربتين إثنتين غير صحابيتين، ورد ذكرهما في هذه السيرة، وهاتان المحاربتان أعلنتا إسلامهما، وهما: المحاربة الأولى سلمى بنت خفصة زوجة الصحابي والقائد الإسلامي المثنى بن حارثة التي شاركت في معركة القادسية، والمحاربة الثانية كانت خولة بنت الأزور وقد كانت قائدة لمجموعة من الصحابيات شاركن حتى بالسيف والرمح في معارك كثيرة في بلاد الشام وكانت معركة اليرموك من أشهرها. ويضيء الكتاب على السيرة الإيمانية والنضالية لثلاثين صحابية مسلمة نذكر من أسمائهن: أسماء بنت أبي بكر (ذات النطاقين) ، أسماء بنت عميس (ذات الهجرتين) ، أسماء بنت يزيد (خطبة النساء) ، أم أيمن بركة الحبشة (حاضنة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم) ، أم حرام (شهيدة البحر) ، أم حكيم (زوجة الشهداء) ، أم زياد الأشجعية (المتطوعة) ، أم سليط (مصلية القبلتين) صاحبة البيعتين (...) وأخريات.
