أول من تمرد على رجال الدين (كهنة آمون)، البعض قال إنه (نبي ملك) أو (ملك نبي) يملك من العلم والمعرفة الكثير.. انتشرت تعاليمه ومبادئه فيما يتعدى العالم القديم لتصل إلى الهند والصين وجزر المحيط الهادي.. أحدث ثورة دينية وأعلن حربًا على الكهنة غايته الإصلاح الديني وتقليص سيطرة الكهنة على الإنسان المصري.. لكنه ليس أول من أعلن التوحيد فقد كان التوحيد موجودًا قبله بأكثر من ألف عام وكان (آمون) هو الاسم الوحيد للإله الواحد الذي خلق نفسه بنفسه.
لكن إخناتون غير اسمه إلى (آتون) ثم قضى على سيطرة كهنة آمون وعلى خرافاتهم ونهب القرابين، إنه شخصية فريدة أحدثت دويًا ما زال ساريًا حتى الآن.
