الإحصاء في التربية يسهم في جمع وتبويب وعرض البيانات واستخراج نتائج البحث وتوفير عوامل الاستدلال بها لاتخاذ القرارات. يتناول كتابنا هذا الإحصاء كعلم له أهمية خاصة في ميادين العلوم التربوية متطرقين فيه إلى دوره الفاعل هذا في الميدان.
ثم التعرض إلى مفاهيم الطرق العملية الإحصائية وأنواع البحوث التي يدخلها الإحصاء وكيفية تصميمها وأنواع الترعيف. وهذا ما يمثله الفصل الأول من المؤلف، أما الفصل الثاني فقد اشتمل على جملة من الأغجراءات الإحصائية وهي الاستخدمات البيانية الإحصائية والعينات وأنواعها وتضمينها ومقاييس النزعة المركزية والتشتت والمواقع النسبية ومقايسس العلاقة، أما الفصل الثالث فقد تحدث عن الإحصاءات الاستدلالية ومنها الفروض الإحصائية والفرضية الصفرية وتربع كاي ودرجات الحرية واختبارات (ن) Test والسلاسل الزمنية والأرقام القياسية.
وبذلك يكون هذا المؤلف يقدم أمثلة تطبيقية عملية لكل خطوة من خطوات الإحصاء التربوي،وخاصة عندما نعلم بأن علوم التربية تقاس بدرجة الدقة التي تصل إليها هذه العلوم في القياس، خاصة عندما نعلم أن علوم القياس والتقويم في ميدان التربية وعلم النفس أعقد بكثير منها في العلوم الأخرى، نظراً لأن موضوع القياس هنا هو الإنسان من حيث هو كائن حي يحب ويحس ويدرك وينفعل ويتعلم وينسى ويتذكر ويتأثر بعوامل داخلية وخارجية.
