فإن الإحصاء التربوي يلعب دوراً مهماً في الحياة العصرية بجميع مناحيها العلمية، والإجتماعية والصناعية والتربوية، والصحية، وغيرها، فهو يستعمل لوصف الطرق المتعددة لجمع البيانات والمشاهدات، ومن ثم يتم تنظيمِها، وعرضها وتحليلها وإستقراء النتائج منها وهناك إمكانيات عظيمة يوفرها الإحصاء للباحثين إضافة إلى الطرق العلمية الكثيرة المتعددة التي يزودهم بها.
وتولي جامعة الأقصى إهتماماً وجهداً كبيرين للإحصاء التربوي، وما هذا الدليل إلا جزء من جهودها للإرتقاء بمستوى الجامعة إلى المكان اللائق بها.
وقد أُعد هذا الدليل على عجل ليلبي حاجة الطلاب الماسة إليه وسوف يُعدل إن شاء الله عدة مرات قبل أن يخرج في شكله النهائي.
ويقع هذا الدليل في ستة فصول، يتضمن الفصل الأول مبادئ أساسية في الإحصاء التربوي منها مفهوم الإحصاء التربوي، وأهمية دراسة الإحصاء التربوي، ومجالات الإحصاء التربوي، ومستويات القياس وعلاقاتها بالإحصاء، والمتغيرات والثوابت، والمجتمع الإحصائي والعينة، وطرق جمع البيانات الإحصائية، وينتهي الفصل بالعينات وطرق اختيارها.
أما الفصل الثاني يتضمن عرض البيانات الإحصائية، وكيفية بناء التوزيعات التكرارية، ومن ثم تمثيل التوزيعات التكرارية بيانياً.
ويتضمن الفصل الثالث على مقاييس النزعة المركزية، فيعرضها، ويعطي الطرق لحسابها وخواصها، أما الفصل الرابع فيتعرض إلى مفهوم التشتت ومقاييسه، وفي الفصل الخامس ناقشنا الإرتباط والإنحدار، بينما الفصل السادس تضمن موضوع التوزيع الطبيعي.
