كتابٌ آخر عن الخوارج؟ تساؤل قد يطرحه المرء من فوره مبرِّراً تعجبه هذا بكثرة البحوث والدراسات والمقالات التي وضعت ونُشرت لحد الآن عن هذه الحركة.
طبعاً، إن إختيار الخوارج موضوعاً لبحث جديد، عملٌ لا يخلو من المخاطرة، لكنها مخاطرة محسوبة، بل ومطلوبة، إذا كان البحث الجديد يقدّم للمكتبة العربية إضافة معرفية ومنهجية مُعتبرة، تقوّم النقائص وتسدّ النواقص التي تعتور الدراسات السابقة، وتجلي بعض الجوانب الخاصّة بحركة الخوارج التي ما زال يكتنفها الغموض وتتطلب مزيداً من التدقيق والتمحيص، وربما كذلك إعادة التقييم جذرياً على ضوء ما توافر من معطيات جديدة.
وهذا بالضبط ما حاول أن يفعله كتاب لطيفة البكّاي هذا، ويشفع له صدوره الآن، فهو عدا عن أنه وُضع بإشراف مؤرِّخ مشهود له بالعلم والموضوعية هو الدكتور هشام جعَيْط، يتصدى لجلاء عدة نقاط خطيرة، ولحسم عدة مسائل عالقة في آن، منها: مسألة التضارب في أحكام الباحثين بشأن الحركة، هل هي ثورية وديمقراطية، أم بدوية متعصبة؟ هل هي حركة دينية بحتة، أم حركة سياسية بالدرجة الأولى؟ بماذا تفسر ميل هذه الحركة الشديد إلى العنف وسفك الدماء؟ برد الفعل التلقائي على إرهاب الدولة الأموية، أم بثقافتهم البدوية/ الجاهلية، أم بتمسكهم الحرفي بالقرآن الكريم وتأويلهم الفجّ لآياته؟ وما دور الإسلام، إذا كان له من دور، في تهذيب عنفهم "الجاهلي" هذا.
وثمة نقطة إيجابية تَسجَّل لمصلحة هذا الكتاب، ألا وهي عرضه المسهب والمعمّق للجدل الذي دار بين الخوارج حول القضايا السياسية والإجتماعية المعاشة وربطهم إياها بالعقيدة الدينية، مما جعلها تبتعد تدريجياً عن واقعها، وتتحول إلى مسائل دينية وفقهية مجرّدة.
وهذا ما ساهم بدوره في تطور الفكر الخارجي خاصةً، والفكر العربي الإسلامي عامةً، وزاد في إنقسام الحركة الخارجية خاصةً، والفكر العربي الإسلامي عامةً، وزاد في إنقسام الحركة الخارجية إلى مجموعات وفرق صغيرة متناحرة، اندثر أكثرها، وتحوّل بعضها إلى مدارس فقهية لا وزن دينياً أو سياسياً أو إجتماعياً لها، فيما كُتب للمجموعات الإباضية وحدها أن تبني تنظيماً محكماً لنفسها، وأن تستمر في الوجود إلى يومنا هذا.
